The number of visitors to Japan from Taiwan and the United States hit a record high in a single month, while Hawaii and Taiwan have become top destinations for Japanese tourists.
TOKYO, JAPAN (The CTP News) – The summer holidays and yen depreciation have driven a surge of international tourists to Japan. In June, the total number of foreign visitors reached a new monthly record. While South Korea and China remain the largest sources of tourists, the significant increase in visitors from Taiwan, and the United States was the primary driver of this month’s growth. The record numbers from Taiwan and the United States highlight the growing popularity of Japanese culture, cuisine, attractions, and affordable prices among these tourists.
Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan in June exceeded a single-month high, reaching 3.1356 million, an increase of 51.2% compared with the same month last year and an increase of 8.9% compared with the same month in 2019. The arrivals number in the year’s first half was 17.7772 million, more than 1 million more than the historical high in the same period in 2019. This shows that the market demand for Japan is robust, and the number of tourists in the second half of the year is expected to grow. Among them, tourists from the United States and Taiwan grew the most.
